Embsay D.T.C. About our Training Methods |

|
At Embsay Dog Training Club we NEVER turn a dog in need away, these are the dogs who most need our help, see some of their stories on the Members Page We believe it is never too early or too late to start training your dog or puppy. There are many ways and methods through which a dog can learn, and that no single method will suit every dog just as no single method will suit every person. It is only by watching, listening and discussing that we can go forward. Training is aimed at a variety of dog owners, whether they are the proud owner of a much loved family pet, or competing in any form of dog competitions in the UK, from beginner to the highest level. The main interest of Embsay Dog training Club is to provide help and support for Pet Dog Owners. To encourage people to train their dogs to be well-mannered and a credit to them, to be the kind of dog that any owner can be proud of. Your dog may seem naughty to you, but to us he just hasn't been trained yet. At Embsay D.T.C. we use Reward based training which includes
This works because (dogs only do what they find rewarding) for example Q. Why does my dog pull on lead? Q. Why wont my dog come back when called? A. Because he finds it rewarding A. Because he finds it rewarding not to (he gets to where he wants to be) (he gets to carry on playing)
Q. Why does my dog bark at people passing by? A. Because he finds it rewarding (the people go away)
If we take away the reward the bad behaviour will stop If we also add a reward for the behaviour that we want, then the bad behaviour will stop a lot sooner. Of course there is a lot more to it than that, Just like children they need to understand the word NO, but if you have these sort of problems we can help. |
